Workshops
Candle Making Workshop
You make your own candle. With natural wax, the colour and scent you love, and an intention.
What do we do in the workshop?
We melt the wax, choose the colour and the scent, and pour it into the mould. While the candle sets, we talk about why we will light it: a wish, a thank you, an intention. Everyone goes home with their own candle.
With children we do a more playful version with paints and small jars. With adult and corporate groups we start with a short breathing practice, then get our hands to work.
Who is it for?
- School groups of every level, from kindergarten to university
- Birthdays and groups of friends
- A creative break for company teams
We plan the materials together. I come to your school or office; if you prefer, we do it in nature at Şifa Köyü in Şile.
Write to us with the number of people and the age group, and we set the length together.
Frequently asked questions
What happens in a candle making workshop?
You make your own candle from start to finish. We melt natural wax, you choose the colour and the scent you love, and we pour it into the mould. While it sets we talk about why you’ll light it: a wish, a thank you or an intention. Then your candle goes home with you.
Where can I find a candle making class near me in Istanbul?
If you’re in or around Istanbul, the class can come to you: I travel to schools and offices with the workshop. If you’d like a change of scene, we can hold it at Şifa Köyü (Healing Farm) in Şile instead. Tell me where you are and how many of you there will be, and I’ll suggest dates.
Is the candle making class suitable for children?
Yes, I run a more playful version for children, with paints and small jars. It suits kindergarten and primary school classes, and it’s also a nice idea for a birthday. Tell me the age group and the number of children when you write, so I can shape the workshop around them.
Can we book candle making for a birthday or a team event?
Yes, I do the workshop for birthdays, groups of friends and company teams who want a creative break. With adult and corporate groups we start with a short breathing practice and then get our hands busy with the wax. I can come to your office, or you can all come out to Şifa Köyü in Şile.
How long is the candle making workshop and how do I book?
There’s no standard length: we decide it together according to the number of people and the age group. Write to us with those details and where you’d like to do it. I’ll come back to you with the dates I have free and the price, and we can plan the rest from there.
Is there a candle making class in English for expats in Istanbul?
Yes, I run my candle making workshop in English for expats, groups of friends and birthdays in Istanbul. I’m Merve Tüfekçi. We melt natural wax, you choose a colour and a scent, and while the candle sets we talk about the intention you will light it for. Everyone goes home with their own candle. We can meet at Şifa Köyü (Healing Farm) in Şile, or I can come to your school or office. Write to us for dates.
Can we book candle making as a team building activity at our office?
Yes, company teams book my candle making workshop as a creative break, and I, Merve Tüfekçi, can come to your office in Istanbul. We begin with a short breathing practice, then everyone melts wax, picks a colour and a scent and pours a candle to take home. For a change of scene, we welcome your team at Şifa Köyü (Healing Farm) in Şile. Tell us how many you are and we will plan the materials and the length together.
