Coaching at Work
If you are at a threshold in your career, if managing your team has become tiring, or if the balance between work and yourself has slipped, we can look at it together.
Who comes?
People in management roles, people starting their own business, people considering a change of career, and people who say the workload has made them lose themselves. The sector does not matter; the subject usually gathers in the same place: not being able to decide, not being able to say no, and a sense of being spent.
What do we do in a session?
First we talk about where you are. Then we make where you want to go as concrete as possible, because working on a vague goal is hard. We break the distance in between into steps.
Coaching is the work of asking questions, not of giving advice. The answers come from you; I carry the process. Everything said between us stays between us.
Alongside my ICF certified professional coaching training I also draw on NLP and energy work. We decide together which of them will serve you.
I usually suggest a series of six sessions. In the first conversation we look at what you need and decide together.
Frequently asked questions
What is coaching at work, and who usually comes?
It’s one-to-one coaching for the moments when work has become the hard part: a turning point in your career, a team that wears you out, or a lost balance between your job and yourself. Managers come, people starting their own business, people weighing a career change. Whatever the sector, the themes are similar: deciding, saying no, and feeling spent.
What happens in an executive or career coaching session?
We start by talking about where you are now. Then we make the place you want to reach as concrete as we can, because a vague goal is hard to work on, and we break the distance into steps. I ask questions instead of giving advice: the answers are yours to find, and my part is to hold the process.
Is what I say in a coaching session kept confidential?
Yes, everything you tell me stays between the two of us. That matters in coaching about work, where you may be talking about your manager, your team or a move you haven’t announced yet. You can speak freely about the things you can’t say at the office, and it goes no further.
How many coaching sessions will I need for my career?
Six sessions is what I usually suggest. In our first conversation we look at what you need and decide together, so you aren’t signing up to a number before we’ve talked. For how often we meet and what it costs, write to us and we’ll tell you.
Do you offer executive coaching in Istanbul and online?
Yes, I coach one to one in Istanbul and online, in English or Turkish. I draw on my ICF certified professional coaching training, and where it’s useful to you I also bring in NLP and energy work. Write to us and we’ll arrange a first conversation, where I’ll also tell you about times and the fee.
Is there a career coach in Istanbul for expats facing a career change?
Yes, I’m Merve Tüfekçi and I coach people at a turning point in their career, in English or Turkish, in Istanbul and online. People considering a career change come to me, as do managers and people starting their own business. We talk about where you are, make where you want to go concrete and break the distance into steps. I ask questions; the answers come from you, and everything stays between us. I usually suggest six sessions.
Do you offer work-life balance coaching for managers in English?
Yes, I offer one-to-one coaching in English for managers who feel the balance between work and themselves has slipped. I’m Merve Tüfekçi, and I work in Istanbul and online. The themes are often the same: not being able to decide, not being able to say no, and a sense of being spent. We make your goal concrete and break it into steps. Coaching is not medical care. Write to us and we will arrange a first conversation.
