From Istanbul to Şile: How to Get to Şifa Köyü

If this is your first time coming to Şile, do not let the journey worry you. Şifa Köyü sits on the Asian side of Istanbul, in the Çengilli neighbourhood of Şile. Far from the noise of the city, yet close enough to go and come back in a day. I hold the healing sessions and the breath and meditation workshops here, next to the soil.

From the Asian side

From Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Ataşehir, Çekmeköy, Beykoz and Çengelköy the shortest route is the Şile motorway. Join it at Ümraniye or Çekmeköy and follow the Şile exit; the Çengilli turn is just before Şile centre. On a quiet morning the drive takes about an hour.

From the European side

From Etiler, Beşiktaş, Nişantaşı, Bebek, Yeniköy and İstinye, cross one of the Bosphorus bridges and join the Şile motorway. The Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge via the Northern Marmara motorway is a commonly used link towards Şile. Allow around an hour and a half in total.

By public transport

Buses from Üsküdar run to Şile centre; from there a taxi or minibus continues to Çengilli. On workshop days we connect people travelling from the same direction, so if you would rather not come alone, just write ahead.

For a session or workshop day

Comfortable clothes, a bottle of water and closed shoes for walking on the farm are enough. Sessions are by appointment; workshop dates are announced every month on Instagram and in the workshops section of this site. For anyone who finds Şile hard to reach, sessions are also held online.

Travel times and public transport routes can change; check a current map and timetable before you set off.
