A Conversation on Healing with Dr. Yavuz Dizdar: What Really Nourishes Us?
Hello dear friends. Today I want to share one of the conversations I value most on my channel. My guest was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yavuz Dizdar. I had been following what he says about health and food for a long time; sitting at the same table and talking at length was a real gift for me. The conversation is in Turkish.
What did we talk about?
Health, food and healing were the backbone of our conversation, but it never stayed on the plate. We talked not only about what we eat, but about how we think. We put on the table what truly nourishes us and what quietly consumes us. Body and mind cannot be thought of separately; what is good for one touches the other. We said that from two different windows: he as a physician, I as someone who works with soil and breath.
The part that touched me most was this: food is a matter of relationship as much as a matter of knowledge. Knowing where a vegetable grew, how, and in whose hands changes the bond we have with it. That is what I see every day at Şifa Köyü, growing heirloom seeds without chemicals. A person who touches the soil looks at the table differently.
What I took away
One: healing is not something that arrives from outside; it is accompanying the body’s own effort to return to balance. Two: what we occupy ourselves with matters as much as what we eat. The news we take in, our worries, the sentences we say to ourselves are a kind of food too. Three: small, sustainable steps last longer than big resolutions. I did not experience these as new information, but as remembering what we already know.
What I appreciate in Dr. Dizdar’s approach is that he makes you think without frightening you. Neither of us said “do this and that will surely follow”, because every body, every past, every story is different. As you watch, I hope you find your own answer.
Where to watch and listen
The full conversation is above, on my channel. I now collect these interviews as a series; you can find all of them in the Healing Conversations playlist on YouTube. If you prefer podcasts, “Healing Conversations with Merve Tüfekçi” is on Spotify as well.
This conversation is for general information only; it does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment. Please consult your doctor before making any decision about your health.
My heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dizdar for his time and sincerity. If something in the conversation stays with you, write it in the comments and we will pick it up in the next episodes. With love.
